Detroit Lions: 'We want to add experience'

The Detroit Lions will target players capable of closing out leads in the free agency and May's Draft.

Detroit Lions' vice president of pro personnel Sheldon White has revealed that the club will be targeting players who are able to finish off games in next month's Draft and in the free agency.

The Lions lost six of their final seven games of the 2013 season despite leading after three quarters in each of them, and White has put that down to a lack of "closers" on the roster.

"You saw six games out of seven where we did not finish," NFL.com quotes White as saying. "So we're going to be looking for closers. Look for them in free agency - guys who have been there, guys like our coaching staff that have been there, guys that will not quit.

"We have some now, but we need some additional players that have that same kind of mindset. That's what we've done so far, and we still have a lot of work to do."

The Lions finished third in the NFC North last season with a 7–9 record.
