A report has suggested that NFL vice president of game operations Mike Kensil was the source used by ESPN for their erroneous story on the deflategate scandal.
In the week following the AFC championship game, ESPN reporter Chris Mortensen released an article saying that 11 of the 12 balls used by the New England Patriots were under-inflated by two pounds per square inch (PSI).
The story was proven to be false when the Wells Report was released in May; meanwhile the Patriots also tried to get the NFL to correct the information earlier in the year, but were unsuccessful in their attempts.
However, it has now been suggested that Kensil, who used to work for the New York Jets, was the source of information used for the false report, claims radio station WEEI.
Settlement talks have been agreed between the NFL and the NFLPA regarding the suspension of quarterback Tom Brady.
