Jadeveon Clowney "not worried" about 2013 stats

Former South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney insists that he is not worried about his personal stats from last season.

Former South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney has insisted that he is "not worried" about his stats from the past season.

Clowney is widely considered to have underperformed during his final year of college football, recording just three sacks and 11.5 tackles for a loss all season.

Despite this, the 21-year-old is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in this year's NFL Draft, and he was more keen to focus on his team's success rather than his own individual figures.

"Going into last season, I had a lot of high expectations of myself, and things don't always happen like you plan on," Clowney told reporters. "I was really trying to break the [career] sack record for us for the next guys coming in.

"There were a lot of ups and downs, but we won 11 games, were 11-2, won our bowl game, finished number four in the country for the first time in South Carolina history. So I was pretty excited about the season.

"I wasn't worried about my stats really. A lot of game-changing went on when we played teams. I wasn't really worried about my stats, I just wanted to win."

Clowney has expressed his desire to be chosen as the number one overall pick in this year's Draft.
