Brian Schottenheimer quits St Louis Rams for University of Georgia

Offensive co-ordinator Brian Schottenheimer leaves his role with the team to work with the Georgia Bulldogs.

St Louis Rams offensive co-ordinator Brian Schottenheimer has left his post to take up the same role with the University of Georgia.

Schottenheimer spent three seasons with the Rams, though many of his plans were hindered by the health of quarterback Sam Bradford.

Bradford had to undergo two ACL reconstruction surgeries, meaning that he hasn't taken a snap for Schottenheimer's offense for 15 months.

In a statement, Schottenheimer said: "This is a great opportunity to become a Georgia Bulldog for both my career and my family.

"I'm thrilled to be part of an elite program with such national tradition and a great staff already in place.

"I look forward to working with young men and being a positive and significant influence on their lives as we develop them athletically, academically, and socially."

Schottenheimer is expected to be the only coaching change in St Louis, with the team set to stick with Jeff Fisher in the head coaching role despite a second consecutive losing season.
