Great Britain are stripped of their 4 x 100m relay medal from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after CJ Ujah's doping violation was confirmed.

Great Britain have been stripped of their 4 x 100m silver relay medal from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics following CJ Ujah's positive doping test.

The team of Ujah, Zharnel Hughes, Richard Kilty and Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake took a silver medal at the Tokyo Games behind Italy - who won by just 0.01 seconds - with Canada in third place.

However, the 27-year-old tested positive for two banned substances in S-23 and ostarine during the Olympics, and GB have now officially had their medal disqualified as Canada are upgraded to silver.

A statement from Ujah read: "I would like to apologise to my teammates, their families and support teams for the impact which this has had on them. I'm sorry that this situation has cost my teammates the medals they worked so hard and so long for, and which they richly deserved.

"I would also like to apologise to both British Athletics and Team GB. British Athletics has supported the relay athletes for years and this has been difficult for everyone involved in the programme.

"Representing my country at a second Olympic Games surpassed my childhood sporting ambitions and I will forever be devastated that this situation has marred the success achieved by the men's 4x100 relay team in Tokyo."

China have now been awarded the bronze medal after initially finishing fourth in the event, while Ujah could now be handed a competition ban of up to four years by the Athletics Integrity Unit.
