Shelayna Oskan-Clarke into 800m final

Great Britain's Shelayna Oskan-Clarke produces a big personal best to reach the final of the women's 800m, but Jenny Meadows and Lynsey Sharp crash out.

Great Britain's Shelayna Oskan-Clarke produced a huge personal best to book her spot in the final of the women's 800m at the World Athletics Championships this afternoon.

The 25-year-old, participating in her first major championship, was the only member of her semi-final not to have gone under two minutes before the race, but she came home in a time of 1:58.86 to hold off the challenge of Renelle Lamote and Olha Lyakhova.

Fellow Brit Jenny Meadows failed to qualify for the final having tired towards the end of her heat, fading away from the pacesetters on the final lap to eventually finish in seventh.

Lynsey Sharp was also among the early aggressors in her race, but she tailed off in the final 100m and eventually crossed the line in last place, despite dipping under two minutes.

Canada's Melissa Bishop set a new national record on her way to the final, crossing the line in a three-way finish with Marina Arzamasova and reigning world champion Eunice Jepkoech Sum, both of whom also qualified.

Joanna Jozwik finished fourth in the final semi-final but also makes it through as a fastest loser, while Rababe Arafi and Nataliia Lupu complete the lineup.
