Lead trainer Malik Scott says that Deontay Wilder is not contemplating retirement in the wake of his defeat to WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury at the weekend.

Lead trainer Malik Scott has revealed that Deontay Wilder has no plans to retire in the foreseeable future.

Wilder suffered a second successive defeat to Tyson Fury at the weekend, the WBC heavyweight champion eventually knocking the American out in the 11th round of an all-time classic in Las Vegas.

With a line finally being drawn under his rivalry with Fury after three absorbing bouts, Wilder's next move is already a hot topic for debate.

However, while the 35-year-old may have to bide his time for another high-profile outing, Scott has insisted that retirement is not in his fighter's thinking.

Speaking to iFL.TV, Scott said: "Deontay has set his family financially secure so he doesn't have to fight to make a living, but retiring is not in his plans at all and not something we've discussed."

Fury has claimed that he is the 'greatest heavyweight of his era', a statement that Scott agrees with after Saturday's clash.
