Nottinghamshire Outlaws see off Worcestershire Rapids in T20 Blast

Nottinghamshire Outlaws beat Worcestershire Rapids by 11 runs in the T20 Blast.

Nottinghamshire Outlaws have returned to winning ways in the T20 Blast with an 11-run victory away to Worcestershire Rapids.

The visitors made 169-5 before bowling the home side out for 158 with four balls remaining.

Despite losing openers Riki Wessels and Alex Hales for five and one respectively, Notts recovered as Steven Mullaney (29), Brendan Taylor (27) and Samit Patel (30) helped to boost their total.

James Taylor (35 not out) and Darren Sammy (36 not out) then enjoyed a solid partnership at the crease to steer the away side to a solid score at the end of their 20 overs.

Jack Shantry finished with two wickets for the Rapids, while Joe Leach, Moeen Ali and Saeed Ajmal also got in on the act with the ball with one wicket apiece.

Worcestershire's innings got off to a positive start as Ali (36) and Daryl Mitchell (13) both flexed their muscles early on. However, Ross Whiteley (36) was the only other player to get beyond the 20-run mark as the hosts struggled to assert themselves.

Ed Barnard (10) and Shantry (12) put up some minor resistance as part of the tail, though they were unable to stop the Rapids from slumping to a defeat. Luke Fletcher and Patel took three wickets each for Notts, while Ben Hilfenhaus ended with figures of 2-36.
