Peter Kennaugh reflects on "pretty special" silver

Peter Kennaugh says that it feels "pretty special" to become the first Isle of Man cyclist to win silver at the Commonwealth Games.

Peter Kennaugh has admitted that winning the Isle of Man's first silver medal in cycling at the Commonwealth Games feels "pretty special".

Kennaugh finished behind New Zealand's Thomas Scully in the men's points race to become the first Manx cyclist to seal a second-placed podium finish at the Games.

The 25-year-old knows all about making national history, having won gold in the track pursuit at London 2012 to become the first Olympic champion from his island in over 100 years.

"It's pretty special," told BBC Sport. "To do it for the Isle of Man is incredible.

"It probably means more to some of the staff than it does to me because they are so passionately Manxmen. I'm happy to do it for them just to see the smiles on their faces."

Wales's Owain Doull was denied a bronze after being pipped to third by Scully's fellow Kiwi Aaron Gate.
