Good Morning Britain director Erron Gordon has taken up a new job at News UK which will see him reunite with Piers Morgan.

Last month Gordon revealed that he would be departing the breakfast show, where he has served as series director since it launched, at the end of the year in order to join Sky News.

Rupert Murdoch's News UK have convinced him to instead take up the job as executive creative director and head of studio output for the new TV channel, talkTV, which is slated to launch early next year.

The station's flagship show will be a weekday night programme hosted by Morgan which will also air on Fox Nation in the US and Sky News Australia.

"There are very few occasions in your career when you get to create something entirely new. talkTV is one of those opportunities," said Gordon, who has been with ITV for 13 years.

"I'm truly excited about what News UK wants to achieve with the station - and, of course, the opportunity to reunite with Piers on his new global show was impossible to resist.

"Having directed Piers for countless hours of live breaking news and event television, I'm thrilled to be in his ear again calling the shots."

Morgan added: "I only want the very best working on my new show and after the five years we spent together on Good Morning Britain, I know Erron is the most talented TV director in the country.

"So, I'm absolutely delighted he will be joining us on this exciting new challenge."

As part of the announcement News UK teased that it will shortly reveal more "exceptional new talent to join a schedule of prime time programming for the evenings".
