Casualty star Nigel Harman reveals that he has quit the medical drama after just eight months.

Nigel Harman has confirmed that he has quit Casualty after eight months on the medical drama.

The former EastEnders star made his debut as Max Christie, a new doctor at Holby City Hospital, in February and has already filmed episodes that will air all the way through to next February.

Last month it was revealed that Harman has signed up for this year's Strictly Come Dancing and now the 50-year-old has said that he has no plans to return to Casualty afterwards.

He told Lorraine: "My time on Casualty is done for the time being.

"I'm on screen until February and there are no plans for me to come back at the moment."

The new series of Strictly begins on BBC One this Saturday with the 'couples reveal' show.
