Sue Cleaver reportedly signs a new deal to keep Eileen Grimshaw on Coronation Street for another 12 months.

Sue Cleaver has reportedly agreed a new 12-month contract to stay on Coronation Street.

The 59-year-old is one of the soap's key cast members, having played battleaxe Eileen Grimshaw for almost 23 years.

Last November Cleaver took a sabbatical from the show in order to fly to Australia to take part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, finishing in ninth place.

In recent weeks stars including Bill Roache (Ken Barlow), Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), Sally Dynevor (Sally Metcalfe) and Michael Le Vell (Kevin Webster) have all penned new one-year deals with Corrie, and The Sun says that Cleaver has now followed suit.

"Sue didn't hesitate to sign onto the show again - she loves playing Eileen and the cast and crew are like family to her," a source told the newspaper.

"Bosses were so pleased - she's a soap legend and they're really happy she returned to the cobbles after I'm A Celebrity. The show wouldn't be the same without her."

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1.
