Bake Off judge Prue Leith given coronavirus vaccine

Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith becomes one of the first people in the world to receive the coronavirus vaccine.

Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith has revealed that she has been given the coronavirus vaccine.

Over the summer the 80-year-old managed to continue working, filming an entire series of the Channel 4 baking contest - as well as several specials - after the broadcaster mounted a huge effort to form a giant coronavirus-free production bubble at an Essex mansion.

The UK began rolling out the two-dose vaccine last week - and due to her age, Leith has consequently become one of the first people in the world to get the jab.

The cookery writer posted a picture of her being vaccinated on social media alongside the message: "Who wouldn't want immunity from #Covid19 with a painless jab?? #vaccine"

Leith's fellow judge Paul Hollywood was quick to congratulate her, replying: "Well done Prue x".

Show host Noel Fielding said: "Always the most classy glamorous person in the room. Love you Prue x".

Other notable names to have received the vaccine in recent days include Sir Ian McKellen, 81, and Lionel Blair, 92.
