Spider-Man star Tom Holland reveals that he is quitting social media after finding it to be too "detrimental" to his mental health.

Tom Holland has announced that he will be taking time out from social media in order to safeguard his mental health.

The Spider-Man star, 26, boasts an impressive 67.7 million followers on Instagram alone but is an infrequent user of the platform.

Now he has admitted that reading negative comments about himself on social media leads him to "spiral" and has concluded that he will be saying "goodbye" to the medium for now.

Explaining his decision in a three-minute video, he told fans: "I have taken a break from social media for my mental health, because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming.

"I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online. And ultimately, it's very detrimental to my mental state."
