Tenet stays top of UK Box Office as cinema industry continues to suffer

Tenet makes it eight weeks on top of the struggling UK and Ireland Box Office.

Christopher Nolan's mindbending Tenet made it eight weeks on top of the box office in the UK and Ireland over the weekend, according to final figures.

Amid a backdrop of cinema closures and a reduction in opening hours due to coronavirus, the film added £187,275 to put it within a whisker of reaching a total of £17 million.

Second place went to concert film Michael Ball & Alfie Boe – Back Together, which drew in £175,778, followed by the supernatural thriller Saint Maud in third with £132,282.

I Am Greta, a documentary about climate change activist Greta Thunberg, pulled in a very modest £29,687, which was still good enough to open in eighth place.

This Friday - the start of the half-term holiday - will see the release of Sky Cinema's The Secret Garden and the family-friendly Max Winslow and the House of Secrets.
