Rowan Atkinson reportedly agrees to reprise his role as Johnny English for a fourth film in the comedy series.

Rowan Atkinson has reportedly agreed to reprise his role as Johnny English for a fourth film in the comedy series this year.

The actor last portrayed the hapless spy in 2018's Johnny English Strikes Again and has previously suggested that he has retired from the franchise - a parody of the James Bond movies.

However, Screen Daily reports that Atkinson, also known for his comic creation Mr Bean, has decided to return for another stint as English.

The publication states that filming will start this June in the UK and Malta, although as of yet there is no estimated release date, nor further details of the director, writers or additional cast.

Previous actors to have featured in the films include Ben Miller, Daniel Kaluuya, Gillian Anderson, Emma Thompson and Dominic West.
