Newcomer Richie Morris joins the cast of Neighbours as police officer Levi Canning.

Neighbours have announced the casting of newcomer Richie Morris as the newest member of the Canning clan, Levi.

The 21-year-old will make his screen debut in Australia next week in episodes that are due to air in the UK on Channel 5 early next month.

Levi is the grandson of Sheila (Colette Mann) and cousin to Kyle (Chris Milligan) and works as a policeman.

"Being a part of the Cannings is so humbling because they are such a fun and iconic family on Ramsay Street, which provides not only loads of drama but also so much humour. I couldn't ask for more," he said.

"Plus, I get to work and learn from both Chris and Colette, who I idolise."

Neighbours continues weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
