Craig Revel Horwood hopeful Strictly can air as planned

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood says that producers are working "very, very hard" to get the show on air on time.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has said that producers are working "very, very hard" to get the show on air this autumn as planned.

The coronavirus pandemic and associated lockdown has cast some doubt over whether the ratings juggernaut can return as usual in September, with most TV productions currently on hold around the world.

One plan supposedly under consideration would see the competing celebrities and professional partners put into isolation together, while live studio audiences would be banned.

"The producers are working very, very hard to bring it out at its normal time so I'm keeping my fingers crossed," Horwood told The One Show. "I know everyone at home will be willing it to go on because it's such a great show."

The BBC has announced three Strictly specials, featuring the show's best moments from the last 16 years, to air in the coming months.
