Former Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach wins this year's edition of Strictly Come Dancing.

Former Coronation Street actress Ellie Leach has won this year's edition of Strictly Come Dancing.

The 22-year-old and her professional partner Vito Coppola had been the bookies' favourites heading into the final, which was also contested by West End star Layton Williams and EastEnders actor Bobby Brazier.

"I actually genuinely cannot believe this," she said after the news was announced, while Coppola sobbed.

"This is the first time I've seen him cry and, for once, you're crying more than me!"

Coppola replied: "This is for you, you have been amazing. I mean, this is the cherry on the cake, it's like the point up on the iceberg, you know?

"All the bruises and the blisters, you have been so amazing, you are Strictly. You represent Strictly, you are the diamond I was talking about, shining."

Strictly returns on Christmas Day for the annual festive special with contestants Tillie Amartey, Danny Cipriani, Jamie Borthwick, Sally Nugent, Dan Snow and Keisha Buchanan.
