A third series of The Traitors could reportedly air as soon as this autumn.

The third series of The Traitors could potentially air as soon as this autumn, according to a report.

The reality hit, which concluded on Friday with almost 7 million viewers, debuted in the run-up to Christmas 2022, with a second series airing on BBC One this month.

That second series was filmed over the course of last summer at Ardross Castle in Scotland, but The Sun says that a host of wedding bookings in the second half of this year means that series three will have to be shot this spring.

"The castle has always been a big draw for couples looking to tie the knot but since The Traitors aired bookings have gone through the roof," a source told the newspaper.

"It proved a headache for producers but might be a bonus for fans as the Beeb contemplates putting out the third series before the end of the year. It will prevent addicts of the show having to go cold turkey for another year and maintain momentum."

The BBC is also rumoured to be developing a celebrity edition of the format.
