TOWIE favourite Pete Wicks reportedly survives the show's mass cast cull.

Pete Wicks has reportedly been told that he will be returning for the next series of The Only Way Is Essex.

Yesterday producers confirmed that a significant number of cast members have been dropped from the show in order to focus on "a smaller group" of participants.

The likes of Harry Derbidge, Tom McDonnell and Chloe Meadows are said to have been ditched, while favourites including Amy Childs, Chloe Sims and James Lock are safe.

According to The Sun, Wicks has also been assured of his future on the show, but his friend Nicole Bass has not been as lucky.

A source told the newspaper: "Pete was told last night that he'd been saved from the chop by show bosses - he's been on TOWIE for years and is a huge fan favourite so they didn't want to lose him.

"But sadly, Nicole Bass was told she's been let go and won't be on the next series. She's gutted."

The new slim-lined series is expected to start on ITVBe in September.
