Former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is reportedly set to remain with Al Ettifaq for the rest of the season despite the recent uncertainty surrounding his future.

Al Ettifaq midfielder Jordan Henderson is reportedly expected to remain in Saudi Arabia for the rest of the season.

The England international made the controversial decision to join Al Ettifaq following the expiration of his Liverpool contract in the summer.

While Henderson insisted that he was keen to help grow the game in the Middle East, the move to Saudi Arabia drew criticism following his previous public support for the LGBTQ+ Community.

Since completing the switch to Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq side, Henderson has gone on to make 19 competitive appearances.

Despite being under contract until June 2026, Henderson's future was recently thrown into doubt after it was revealed that he was looking to move back to Europe.

Following reports that Henderson's family had struggled to settle in the Middle East, Juventus emerged as a potential contender for the player's signature.

The Italian giants allegedly held discussions with the 33-year-old over a potential loan deal, as Massimiliano Allegri looks to strengthen his midfield.

Ajax were also exploring a potential deal after the club's interim boss John van 't Schip confirmed the club's interest following Saturday's win over Go Ahead Eagles.

The Ajax head coach told reporters: "I can confirm the club and Henderson are talking. He has to deal with his club now."

However, according to the Daily Mail, Henderson is likely to remain in Saudi Arabia for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

The report claims that Al Ettifaq have no interest in allowing the 33-year-old to leave the club before the end of the current transfer window.

Officials from the club are expected to speak to Henderson in the near future following the recent uncertainty over his future.

With the Saudi Pro League currently on a mid-season break, Henderson has flown out to Abu Dhabi to join his teammates for a two-week training camp.

Al Ettifaq will return to action against Al Khaleej next month when they will try to spark an upturn in fortunes after failing to win any of their last nine competitive matches.

Henderson will be hoping that he and his team can enjoy success in the second half of the campaign as he looks to secure his place in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024.
