Scottish League Two roundup: Annan go top as East Fife, Elgin lose

Sports Mole rounds up all of Saturday's action in Scottish League Two.

Annan Athletic moved to the top of the Scottish League Two table after beating East Fife.

Josh Todd scored the opening goal of the game in the 38th minute in a game where East Fife dominated possession but struggled to convert their chances. Rabin Omar doubled the lead in the 88th minute as Annan claimed a 2-0 victory.

Stirling Albion kick started their season with a 3-2 victory against local rivals East Stirlingshire. They raced into the lead thanks to goals from Sandy Cunningham and Steven Doris in the opening seven minutes before Nathan Shepherd pulled one back in the 13th minute. Ross McMillan doubled Stirling's lead when he netted with 14 minutes remaining. Ally Roy scored in the 88th minute for East Stirlingshire but Stirling held on to claim the victory.

Berwick's win against Queen's Park moved them into second in the table. Scott Gibson was sent off after handling the ball on the line, and Darren Lavery converted from the penalty spot to give Berwick a 1-0 win.

Clyde joined the chasing pack with a 1-0 victory at strugglers Arbroath. Defender Chris Smith converted with a close-range header from Chris Mitchell's corner to ensure the three points went back to Cumbernauld.

Montrose moved into the playoff places with a 2-0 victory over Elgin City as Graham Webster and Gary Fraser netted either side of half time.

At the end of play, six teams were within a point of league leaders Annan.
