A report claims that Arsenal will have to contribute towards Mesut Ozil's £350,000-a-week wages if he leaves the Emirates Stadium this month.

Arsenal have reportedly resigned themselves to taking a big financial hit on Mesut Ozil if they can find a club willing to sign him.

The 29-year-old has not featured for the Gunners since being hauled off at half time in the 1-1 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion on Boxing Day.

Ozil has recovered from a niggling back problem over the past week, but he was overlooked for squad selection on Saturday as Arsenal fell to a 1-0 loss at West Ham United.

Arsenal are now believed to be looking to sell the ex-Germany international, but The Mirror claims that they will have to subsidise his £350,000-a-week wages to make the transfer more appealing to other clubs.

A separate report indicates that Atletico Madrid have stepped forward with a concrete offer for Ozil, though the Spanish side will not agree to the midfielder's wage demands unless Arsenal contribute to it.

Inter Milan, as well as unnamed teams in Turkey and China, are also rumoured to have shown an interest.
