Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is reportedly a step closer to joining Arsenal as a medical has been arranged for Monday evening.

Arsenal have reportedly arranged for Thomas Partey to undergo a medical ahead of his proposed £45m move from Atletico Madrid.

The Gunners are believed to have agreed to trigger the Ghana international's release clause and are now awaiting confirmation from La Liga officials.

According to the Evening Standard, Partey is set to undergo tests in the Spanish capital on Monday evening before then completing the formalities on a big-money switch to Arsenal ahead of the 11pm deadline.

News of Partey's expected arrival at the Emirates Stadium comes on the back of confirmation that Matteo Guendouzi has left Arsenal for a season-loan loan spell with Hertha Berlin.

On what has been a busy deadline day for the North London outfit, Lucas Torreira is also on the verge of signing for Atletico in a separate deal to the one involving Partey.

Partey is one of two midfielder players Mikel Arteta has been targeting this summer, along with Houssem Aouar, who is staying put at Lyon for the time being.
