Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are reportedly expected to miss out on Houssem Aouar, with the midfielder now likely to remain at Lyon.

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal will reportedly miss out on signing Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar on deadline day.

With two years remaining on the playmaker's contract, Lyon have been prepared to consider offers for one of their key men this summer.

Spurs and the Gunners have been among the clubs who have been frequently linked with an approach for the 23-year-old.

However, according to ESPN, Lyon are likely to retain the services of the Frenchman after failing to attract any significant offers for his signature.

The report suggests that the Ligue 1 outfit are prepared to stay patient ahead of selling Aouar in January or next summer.

Aouar has played every minute of Lyon's opening four fixtures in Ligue 1 this season.
