Thomas 'prefers Atletico stay above Arsenal move'

A report claims that Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is prioritising a new contract at the Wanda Metropolitano over joining Arsenal.

Thomas Partey would reportedly prefer to sign a new contract with Atletico Madrid over joining Arsenal in a big-money deal.

The Gunners have already held talks with the Ghana international over a summer move and are supposedly prepared to meet the £44.5m release clause in his current contract.

Partey's father confirmed earlier this week that Arsenal are not the only club interested in the midfielder, however, with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain also supposedly keen to strike a deal.

According to Mundo Deportivo, though, the 26-year-old's top priority this summer is to pen fresh terms with Atleti, where he has spent the past five seasons in the first team after emerging through their academy system.

Partey's international teammate Joseph Attamah has urged the Atletico ace to join Arsenal, meanwhile, in the hope of proving himself in another league.
