Shirt numbers available to Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz at Chelsea

Sports Mole looks at the shirt numbers available for Bayer Leverkusen forward Kai Havertz should he make the switch to Chelsea.

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing up a club-record move for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz ahead of next season.

The Germany international has enjoyed another impressive campaign for Leverkusen, scoring and assisting a combined 22 goals in all competitions.

Havertz is also believed to be a target for Bayern Munich and Manchester United among others, meaning that a hefty valuation has been placed on his head.

Chelsea have already snapped up Ajax's Hakim Ziyech and are expected to land RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, so it remains to be seen how much truth there is to the rumours.

Amid the growing speculation, though, Sports Mole looks at the numbers likely to be available to Havertz should he indeed make the move to West London.

Despite only turning 21 last week, Havertz has spent four years in Leverkusen's first team and has worn the number 29 shirt in each of those seasons.

That shirt is currently occupied at Stamford Bridge by academy graduate Fikayo Tomori, though there is every chance that he will be given a new number after proving himself this season.

Havertz has played with three different numbers on his back for the Germany national side, meanwhile, most recently 'seven', which has belonged to N'Golo Kante since 2016-17.

'Twenty' and '23', the other numbers Havertz has occupied, are held by Callum Hudson-Odoi and Michy Batshuayi respectively, but the latter seems certain to move on this summer.

Two other popular numbers are soon to become available, meanwhile, with '10' and '11' being freed up once Willian and Pedro's contracts expire at the end of the campaign.
