Marco Silva hopeful of more new arrivals before transfer window closes

Everton manager Marco Silva intends to be active in the transfer market right until Thursday evening's deadline.

Marco Silva has admitted that it is "clear" where Everton need to strengthen in the final days of the summer transfer window.

The Toffees have so far brought in Richarlison and Lucas Digne for around £60m, while young goalkeeper Joao Virginia has also been added to the squad.

Ahead of Thursday evening's cut-off point, however, new boss Silva - appointed as Sam Allardyce's successor on May 31 - hopes for a busy few days after missing out on certain targets.

Asked if there will be more signings, Silva is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying: "I hope. Of course, it is the not the best thing to do to wait until the last days but the market is really difficult.

"When we started we knew more or less what were our targets, I know what positions I have to improve, I have started to make more decisions to be sure about everything. But in some positions from the first day, it was clear in my mind what we needed. It is clear what we need to do.

"It is not easy even for us as a club to sign some players because in normal situations they ask a lot of money and also because we have to make the right decisions. We have to really improve our squad. It is not important if you change 10 players but if you bring in 5-6 then they need to improve our squad."

Yerry Mina, Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof are all rumoured to be on Silva's wishlist, with a new centre-back a top priority.
