Manchester City 'face Premier League points deduction'

Manchester City are reportedly facing a domestic points deduction as the Premier League launches a probe into their conduct surrounding Financial Fair Play.

Manchester City are reportedly facing a domestic points deduction as the Premier League launches a probe into their conduct surrounding Financial Fair Play.

The club were banned from European competition by UEFA earlier this month for contravening the regulations and will now go through an appeal process in an attempt to have the ban lifted.

According to the Daily Mail, the Premier League have been running a separate investigation into City, with potential punishments ranging from a fine to a points deduction.

The report adds that the investigation will focus on City's relationship with Danish club FC Nordsjaelland.

Between 2016 and 2020, City reportedly had an agreement with Nordsjaelland granting them access to players from the club's Right to Dream Academy in Ghana.

Pep Guardiola's side beat Real Madrid 2-1 in their Champions League round of 16 tie on Wednesday.
