Sepp Blatter 'promised Mongolia that they will host 2050 World Cup'

Mongolia have reportedly been promised the honour of hosting the 2050 World Cup by FIFA president Sepp Blatter.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has been named in a fresh corruption scandal as he reportedly made promises to the Mongolian Football Federation that they will host the 2050 World Cup.

The 79-year-old won an election on Friday which will see him serve as president of football's governing body for four more years, despite powerful figures calling for his resignation in the wake of another FIFA scandal.

Blatter was not personally named in the FBI's probe, which led to multiple arrests of FIFA officials this week, but he faces fresh claims of corruption this morning.

The Daily Mail claims to have obtained footage of Blatter holding a meeting with the MFF and Mongolian president Tsakhia Elbegdorj in 2011, which shows a written vow on the wall saying that the Asian nation will host football's biggest tournament in 2050, along with the Asia Cup in 2035. Both Blatter and Elbegdorj signed the vow.

The paper suggests that Blatter was attempting to win votes ahead of the 2011 FIFA election.

Blatter does not personally choose who will host the tournament, as it is decided by a vote of the 208 member associates of FIFA.

The Swiss will be 105 when the members vote on who will host the 2050 tournament.
