Ahead of Friday's World Cup 2022 Group G clash between Serbia and Switzerland, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record between the two sides.

Both Serbia and Switzerland are in the running to join Brazil in the last-16 stage of the World Cup from Group G, with the two sides due to lock horns on Friday.

Brazil are top of the section on six points, three points clear of second-placed Switzerland, while Cameroon are third on one point, just ahead of Serbia on goal difference.

Switzerland would advance to the knockout stage if they triumph on Friday, but a defeat would see them exit the competition, while Serbia need to win to stand a chance of progressing ahead of Cameroon.

These two sides have only locked horns on one previous occasion, which came in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup, with Switzerland running out 2-1 winners.

Aleksandar Mitrovic sent Serbia ahead in the fifth minute of the contest, but Switzerland levelled the scores through Granit Xhaka before Xherdan Shaqiri scored a 90th-minute winner in Kaliningrad.

Switzerland went on to finish second in the section behind Brazil, with Serbia eliminated in third position.

A-Team saw their journey end in the round of 16, though, as they suffered a 1-0 loss to Sweden, with Emil Forsberg scoring in the 66th minute of the contest.
