Huge Lloris is part of Tottenham Hotspur's 25-man squad list for the Premier League, despite being told that he could leave over the summer.

Hugo Lloris has been named in Tottenham Hotspur's 25-man Premier League squad list, despite being told that he could leave in the summer.

A move never transpired for the French goalkeeper, after Spurs revealed that they were allowing him to "explore prospective transfer opportunities".

Lloris did not travel with the squad to Asia for pre-season, and he has not been named in any of Ange Postecoglou's matchday squads so far this campaign.

On the eve of the new season, it was also announced that Heung-min Son would be replacing Lloris as club captain.

Losing the armband after eight years as captain fuelled further speculation that an exit was imminent.

However, despite rumoured interest from Lazio, Saudi Arabia and teams from Lloris's homeland in Ligue 1, nothing concrete ever bore its head.

There were even reports that stated Spurs could have terminated the contract of the 36-year-old, but his admission back into the squad suggests that he is set to stay for now.

In what has been a strong start for Spurs, with 10 points being collected from a possible 12 to begin the campaign, Guglielmo Vicario has quickly nailed down the number one spot.

Fraser Forster continued as backup, playing in Spurs' EFL Cup exit to Fulham, but Lloris's return to the squad leaves Postecoglou with five goalkeepers in his 25-man squad.

Another player who had been banished from the squad was Eric Dier, but like Lloris, the former England international remains with the club.

Dier has also not played a competitive minute under the Aussie manager, but he joins Lloris as one of Spurs' allocated eight non-home-grown players.

With Vicario set to stay as number one ahead of Lloris, Dier would also most likely find it tough to play his way into Postecoglou's plans, given the start that Spurs have made.

A centre-back pairing of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven has seen Spurs keep two clean sheets and remain unbeaten so far in the Premier League.
