Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva is open to spending another year on loan at PSV Eindhoven.

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Fabio Silva has admitted that he would be open to spending another year on loan at PSV Eindhoven.

Having failed to develop how he and Wolves would have liked during his first two years at Molineux, Silva was allowed to link up with Anderlecht in July.

The initial idea was for the Portugal Under-21 international to represent the Belgian outfit for the entire season, but his stay was cut short in January with Wolves wary of Anderlecht potentially being left with a reduced schedule in the spring.

Instead, the 20-year-old made the switch to PSV where he has managed to establish himself as a key player in the final third, effectively replacing Cody Gakpo.

Silva has four goals and one assist across 548 minutes of football, some of that game time spent on the left flank with Luuk de Jong remaining down the centre.

Despite being deployed in an unfamiliar position on occasions, Silva has been able to work under Ruud van Nistelrooy, a legendary forward previously of Manchester United.

Silva has commented of his admiration of the Dutchman in the past, and that has been followed up by acknowledging that he would happily spend another year in the Netherlands.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Silva said: "If it's up to me, I'll definitely stay here for another season because I think it's good for my development.

"The last goal we scored against Cambuur, with Xavi [Simons], Anwar [El Ghazi] and me, showed how much fun we have together, I would like to continue that. But like I said, it's not always up to me.

"Moreover, my focus must first be fully on the title race and the cup tournament. I want to win trophies here and I believe we can still become champions."

PSV currently sit eight points adrift of leaders Feyenoord in the Eredivisie standings with eight matches remaining, as well as being level on points with fourth-placed AZ Alkmaar.

Silva still has over three years remaining on his Wolves contract, which was extended by a further 12 months when he moved to Anderlecht.

As it stands, Wolves have Matheus Cunha, Raul Jimenez and Diego Costa as options down the middle of the attack, while the West Midlands outfit hope that Sasa Kalajdzic will be in a position to return from a serious knee injury in time for pre-season in July.
