Besiktas, Turkish FA condemn "inhuman brutal terrorist attack"

Besiktas and the Turkish FA condemn the "inhuman brutal terrorist attack" after a bomb went off outside the club's Vodafone Arena following a match with Bursaspor.

Besiktas and the Turkish Football Association have condemned attacks outside the club's Vodafone Arena following their Super Lig clash with Bursaspor this afternoon.

At least 20 people are understood to have been injured by an apparent car bomb that went off following a 2-1 win for Besiktas, which took the club joint top of the table.

Some reports have suggested that as many as 13 people have been killed in the blast, the majority of whom are thought to be riot police after the car bomb seemed to be targeted at the officers.

Besiktas released a statement condemning "the terrorists... who attacked our heroic security forces, who provided security for both our supporters and those of our visitors Bursaspor.

"We hope that the citizens who were wounded in the attack will have a speedy recovery and that no greater suffering will be experienced. We condemn violence and hatred."

The Turkish FA also expressed its "tremendous sorrow" and condemned the "inhuman brutal terrorist attack".

Turkish media have reported that the explosions were followed by gunshots.
