Violent scenes marred the Russian Cup match between Shinnik Yaroslavl and Spartak Moscow just days after the country's football culture was called into question.
It is believed that the match had to be stopped for half an hour when visiting Spartak fans tried to invade the pitch by throwing seats at the line of police officers in front of them.
Reports have claimed that around 30 fans were detained following the scenes, which included police having to use water cannons to calm the disorder, according to The Telegraph.
The commotion, which involved the setting off of flares, comes after CSKA Moscow were hit with a partial stadium ban after a section of fans directed monkey chants at Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure during their Champions League encounter last week.
