Former Sunderland and Ipswich Town goalkeeper Marton Fulop has died at the age of 32.

The Hungarian lost his battle with cancer on Thursday morning after being first diagnosed with the disease in 2013.

Fulop made 24 appearances at international level with Hungary and spent eight years in England with various clubs.

Before he moved to the Premier League, Fulop played for MTK Budapest and the club announced his death on their website.

"We are deeply sorrowful and grieved to announce that after a long illness, Marton Fulop has died," read a statement.

He first moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2004 before Sunderland signed him in January 2007. He spent three-and-a-half years with the Black Cats and then joined Ipswich in 2010.

Fulop made 35 Championship appearances for the Tractor Boys - more than in any other season - before moving to West Bromwich Albion for a year. In total, Fulop made 139 league appearances in England, also turning out for Coventry City, Leicester City and Manchester City while on loan.

His final season in football was with Greek side Asteras Tripolis in 2012-13.
