Wales warned by UEFA over post-match 'family celebrations'

The Football Association of Wales is issued a warning by European football governing body UEFA due to their post-match celebrations with family members at Euro 2016.

UEFA has issued a warning to the Football Association of Wales after players brought their children onto the pitch to celebrate victories at Euro 2016.

The likes of Gareth Bale, Ashley Williams and Dave Edwards shared their memorable run to the semi-final stage with family members at the end of games.

Wales had initially been warned by UEFA last week not to take children onto the field of play following their last-four meeting with Portugal, although defeat in Lyon meant that did not come to fruition.

In a statement released on Saturday afternoon, a spokesman for the European football governing body said: "The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has dealt with this case, and decided to issue a warning to the Football Association of Wales."

Wales were welcomed back home to a heroes' welcome on Friday, with up to 200,000 fans lining the streets of Cardiff ahead of a special ceremony at the Cardiff City Stadium.
