Ricky Pellow "massively proud" of Exeter Chiefs after LV= Cup final loss

Exeter Chiefs assistant coach Ricky Pellow says that he is "massively proud" of the team's performance in their LV= Cup final loss to Saracens.

Exeter Chiefs assistant coach Ricky Pellow has said that he is "massively proud" of the team's performance during their LV= Cup final loss to Saracens.

Last year's winners were 20-6 down with 20 minutes remaining, but Saracens scrum-half Ben Spencer quelled their comeback by scoring a penalty with the final kick of the game to give Saracens a 23-20 victory.

"I'm massively proud of the group today," Pellow told Sky Sports News.

"As a squad we are disappointed with the way we lost the game. Full credit to Saracens, they put us under a lot of pressure. We did go off script a little bit today and, when we did, they punished us. That's the sign of a good side.

"They held on at the end and Ben Spencer, who is a quality kicker, knocked it over. We're going away with a loss and Saracens are moving forward and have an LV= Cup under their belt."

Exeter Chiefs are currently second in the Aviva Premiership table, nine points behind league leaders Northampton Saints.
