England's Liam Pitchford wins second table tennis medal

England table tennis ace Liam Pitchford secures a second medal of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, winning bronze by beating Sharath Kamal Achanta of India in the singles.

England's Liam Pitchford has won his second medal of the Commonwealth Games after claiming a men's singles bronze by beating India's Sharath Kamal Achanta 4-2 tonight.

The 21-year-old cruised into a two-nil lead, winning the second game 11-8 after opening the bronze-medal match with a 11-6 win.

Kamal Achanta bounced back in emphatic style, though, claiming the third round 11-4 to reduce the deficit.

However, Pitchford, who helped England to silver in the team event, moved closer to a second podium finish at the Games after restoring his two-game lead by edging an 11-9 thriller.

The Indian responded once more, winning the fifth game 11-6, but the English youngster held his nerve in the sixth to win 12-10 and add a bronze to his Glasgow medal collection.
