Singapore win bronze in women's team table tennis

Singapore beat South Korea 3-0 to win bronze in the women's team table tennis.

Singapore have beaten South Korea 3-0 to win bronze in the women's team table tennis.

The first match was a battle between Korea's Kim Kyungah and Singapore's Feng Tianwei, which Feng won 3-1.

Kim was just edged out in the first two sets before comfortably taking the third 11-4. However, Feng won through in a lengthy third set 13-11 to give the first point to Singapore.

The second match was looking comfortable for the Singapore player Li Jiawei who raced into a 2-0 lead (11-5, 11-8) but Seok Ha-Jung took the third 11-6.

Li then pulled back from a two-point deficit in the fourth set to take it 11-8 and give Singapore a 2-0 lead overall.

Dang Ye-Seo and Seok Ha-Jung were tasked with keeping South Korea in the contest in the third match against Wang Yeugu and Li, the Indonesians knowing victory would seal bronze.

Again Singapore took the opening two sets with Korea winning the third, but before long Singapore were 9-3 up in the fourth with bronze on the horizon.

Korea won two points back but Singapore closed out the victory to take the match 3-1 and the overall contest 3-0.
