Australia win bronze in extra time over Hungary

Two goals from Gemma Beadsworth in extra time secure bronze for Australia in a dramatic contest against Hungary.

Australia's water polo team have beaten Hungary's women 13-11 in extra time to win the bronze medals in an enthralling match in London.

The first two quarters belonged to Australia as they built a strong advantage against a sluggish Hungary side to lead 7-4 at half-time.

Hungary responded superbly after the break with constant threats against Australia's goal as they reduced their opponents to two.

In a nervy final period for both sides, it was Hungary who continued their momentum to level the match with just a second remaining in the contest.

Australia refused to admit defeat in extra time despite throwing away their lead; Gemma Beadsworth scored two goals in each extra period to secure bronze in dramatic fashion.
