Belgian badminton ace Lianne Tan hails "best moment" of career

Lianne Tan claims that she now has "nothing to lose" when taking on Line Kjaersfeldt in the women's badminton gold-medal final on Sunday morning.

Belgium's Lianne Tan has described reaching the final of the Baku 2015 women's badminton singles as the "best moment" of her career.

The 24-year-old battled back from a set behind this morning to beat Clara Azurmendi 16-21 21-19 21-13.

Ahead of Sunday morning's gold-medal match against Line Kjaersfeldt of Denmark, Tan declared that she now has "nothing to lose".

"In the beginning it was hopeless," she told reporters. "I would do a lift and 'boom' [Azurmendi] would smash it, another lift and again 'boom'.

"She is very tall, so whenever there was a high ball she could get very steep angles and I didn't know how to handle that. When I started playing short balls just over the net, she didn't have an answer. There was no room for her to smash the shuttle.

"This is the best moment in my career. Maybe tomorrow I can manage to make it even better. I have nothing to lose."

Kjaersfeldt beat Bulgaria's Petya Nedelcheva in the other semi-final meeting at Baku Sports Hall earlier today.
