World number one Lee Chong Wei denies drug use

World number one Lee Chong Wei denies any wrongdoing after provisionally being suspended for an "apparent" anti-doping violation.

Lee Chong Wei has claimed that he has never relied on banned substances despite an "adverse analytical finding" being discovered in his sample at the recent World Championship.

The Badminton World Federation have provisionally suspended the world number one with a hearing scheduled to take place in due course, but Lee has denied attempting to "cheat" ahead of the competition.

The 32-year-old posted on Facebook and Twitter: "I just want to thank every one of you who had faith in me through this difficult times.

"There are so many unanswered questions and I hope to clear my name soon. I never cheated nor will I ever rely on banned substances."

If found guilty, the Malaysian will be stripped of the silver medal that he won in Copenhagen as well as being handed a two-year ban.
