Neil Fachie completes double-double of Commonwealth Games golds

Scotland cyclist Neil Fachie continues his dominance of the Velodrome with a second gold medal of the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Scotland cyclist Neil Fachie has won his second gold medal of the 2018 Commonwealth Games and his fourth overall courtesy of victory in the men's B&VI sprint final.

Fachie once again came up against James Ball of Wales - the same man he beat to gold in the 1000m time trial final on Thursday - and the result was the same this evening at the Anna Meares Velodrome.

The 34-year-old needed only two races to take the best-of-three contest, completing the double-double with pilot Matt Rotherham having won the same two events in Glasgow four years ago.

Ball and his pilot Peter Mitchell, meanwhile, pick up a second silver from his maiden Commonwealth Games, having finished fifth at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

Australia's Brad Henderson and pilot Tom Clarke took home the bronze medal, ensuring that the sprint podium ended up exactly the same as that of the 1000m time trial.

Henderson beat Malaysia's Muhammad Rizan in the bronze-medal contest, also only needing two races to decide the final podium spot.
