Jonnie Peacock: 'Withdrawing from IPC World Athletics Championships wasn't easy'

British sprinter Jonnie Peacock admits that withdrawing from the upcoming IPC World Athletics Championships was not an easy decision.

Great Britain's Jonnie Peacock has revealed that he hopes withdrawing from the upcoming IPC World Athletics Championships will benefit his long-term fitness.

Peacock, who won gold at London 2012, will miss the rest of the season with a sore on his leg, and the T44 sprinter has admitted that pulling out of the event in Qatar was not an easy decision to make.

The 22-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "These decisions are never easy but I have to think of the long-term effects and give it the rest it needs.

"It will be tough being on the sidelines but I'm sure it will be a great event and I'll be cheering on the team from the UK."

Rival Richard Browne has insisted that he would not have been concerned about Peacock had they competed against each other next month.
