Jordanne Whiley in 10-strong wheelchair tennis team for Rio 2016

Jordanne Whiley is named in a 10-strong ParalympicsGB wheelchair tennis team for Rio 2016.

Jordanne Whiley has been named as one of 10 wheelchair tennis players to represent Great Britain at the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro this summer.

The 2015 US Open champion, who has won seven Grand Slam doubles titles, has been joined by Australian Open champion Gordon Reid and London 2012 silver medallist Andy Lapthorne.

Whiley said: "I'm delighted to be selected for Rio. This will be my third Paralympic Games and this is the one where I will be looking to bring home two gold medals. I've been working so hard for the last four years for this moment, so I fully intend to grab it with two hands."

Team leader for wheelchair tennis Geraint Richards added: "I'm very proud of the 10 players selected from the Tennis Foundation's world-class performance programme to go to Rio as they have all been working incredibly hard to rise up the rankings and secure their place.

"With so many recent Grand Slam successes our hopes and expectations are high for medals at the Games and I'm sure they will all do ParalympicsGB proud come September."

Six gold medals are there to be won in the event.
