Sky Sports to launch dedicated NFL channel

Sky Sports announces plans to launch new channel Sky Sports NFL next month ahead of the 2020 season.

Sky has announced plans for a new channel, Sky Sports NFL, which will launch on September 3 ahead of the 2020 season.

The brand new station, available on Sky channel 407, coincides with the broadcaster signing a new five-year deal with the NFL and marks the league's first collaboration on a branded network outside of the US.

Sky Sports NFL will be on air for roughly six months a year - September to February - while the sport is in active play and will show a minimum of five live games a week, including two first-pick games on Sunday as well as Thursday Night, Sunday Night and Monday Night Football.

The channel will feature programming from the NFL Network such as Good Morning Football and Total Access, the NFL RedZone and every single playoff game, the Pro Bowl and the season-ending Super Bowl.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said: "Sky Sports has been a fantastic broadcast partner for a quarter of a century. This new five-year agreement and the launch of a dedicated Sky Sports NFL channel will undoubtedly continue our rapid growth in the UK and Ireland.

"We are excited that our expanded partnership with Sky will provide even more NFL content to our millions of UK and Irish fans."

Sky Sports NFL joins Sky's lineup of sport-specific channels that also include the Premier League, Football, Cricket, Golf and Formula 1.
