Leeds United 1-2 Leicester City

Harry Panayiotou's late goal earns Leicester City a 2-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road and sees the Foxes finish 9th in the Championship table.

Harry Panayiotou's late goal earned Leicester City a 2-1 win over Leeds United in a mid-table Championship clash at Elland Road this afternoon.

Martin Waghorn's first goal in over a year had given the Foxes a 1-0 half-time lead. The former Sunderland striker had been sidelined for nearly 12 months with an injury but capitalised on a poor defensive header from Danny Pugh to net on his return to the side.

The Foxes could have gone ahead earlier in proceedings, but Andy Lonergan saved well from both Wes Morgan and Ben Marshall.

Danny Webber thought he had earned Leeds a point when he latched onto Robert Snodgrass's pass to finish from close range on 83 minutes.

However, the Foxes snatched the points in stoppage time when Panayiotou netted a debut goal by reacting quickest to poke home from Marshall's parried shot.

The loss, which sees Leeds set an unwanted record of 11 home defeats in a season, leaves the Whites in 14th place while Leicester finish five places above them in ninth.
