Australia's Jason Day returns to the winners circle on the PGA Tour with victory at the AT&T Byron Nelson.

Jason Day has ended a five-year wait for another title with victory at the AT&T Byron Nelson.

While the Australian has recently been one of the form players on the PGA Tour, he had not gotten over the line since the 2018 Wells Fargo Championship.

However, the former world number one has now ended that wait with a terrific performance in Texas, coming out on top of a tightly-packed leaderboard.

At one stage, as many as nine players were separated by a solitary shot, scoring helped by the favourable conditions for the final round.

Day was able to shoot a 62 which did not feature a single bogey, capping a nine-under round with a birdie on the last which had been set up with a pin-point approach.

American Austin Eckroat was left with 68 feet for eagle to take the tournament to a playoff, but he instead had to settle for a share of second, his best-ever showing on the PGA Tour.

Si Woo Kim birdied three of his final five holes to also finish as runner-up, with C.T. Pan on his own in fourth ahead of Scottie Scheffler.

Although Scheffler would have returned to the top of the World Golf Rankings with a win, he instead had to settle for a share of fifth in preparation for next week's US PGA Championship.

Scheffler finished alongside Tyrrell Hatton, the Englishman another player who is trending in the right direction ahead of the second major of the year in New York.
